The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, (NAACP) is deeply concerned about the racial and ethnic
disparities that have created a severe health crisis affecting African Americans and other people of color. In response to
this concern, The NAACP Illinois State Conference Health Committee was formed to carry out the strategic plan on health care,
as directed by the NAACP National Office.
The primary mission of the health committee is improving the overall health of African Americans and other people of color,
eliminating health care disparities and improving the access to quality health care. The health committee has the responsibility
of calling attention to health problems, risk factors and potential treatments for health issues that affect African Americans
and people of color.
